Electrocast Zirconium Corundum Brick

Laurel’s electrocast zirconium corundum brick is a premium-grade zirconia corundum brick designed to meet requirements of high-temperature glass melting furnaces. These refractory zirconia corundum brick units are produced through electrofusion of high-purity zirconia and alumina, creating an ultra-dense microstructure that ensures exceptional performance under severe thermal and chemical stress.

Laurel’s zirconia corundum brick products—including high-performance electrocast zirconium corundum brick and refractory zirconia corundum brick—offer thermal and chemical protection in critical glass furnace operations.

Features

Features

ZrO₂ Reinforcement for Advanced Corrosion Resistance

Zirconia corundum brick is formulated with 32–36% ZrO₂ content, enhancing its resistance to molten glass corrosion, alkaline vapors, and aggressive fluxes. This makes each electrocast zirconium corundum brick especially suited for zones with direct glass contact.

Thermal Shock and Creep Resistance

The interlocked crystalline matrix of these refractory zirconia corundum brick options ensures reliable structural stability under rapid heating and cooling. They maintain shape and strength even during long-term operation above 1800°C.

Ultra-Low Porosity and Glass Purity

With porosity ≤1.5% and zero glass-phase inclusion, each zirconia corundum brick minimizes blistering and prevents glass contamination. This is critical for optical and borosilicate glass production.

Precision Casting for Seamless Furnace Lining

Every electrocast zirconium corundum brick is dimensionally controlled and defect-free, promoting tight joints, reduced heat loss, and uniform thermal expansion across the furnace lining.

Multiple Grades for Tailored Use

Laurel offers various refractory zirconia corundum brick grades based on ZrO₂ content (e.g., 33%, 36%), enabling use in different zones such as sidewalls, crowns, and feeder channels.
